Transplant Infectious Diseases: Quality and Safety in Transplantation
In this course, attendees will learn to manage and prevent infectious complications at all stages of the transplant process. The program will consist of a 2-day conference with formal lectures illustrated with clinical cases and meet-the-expert sessions. The meeting will be divided into three sections: I – Principles of quality and safety applied to transplantation; II – Healthcare infections and related issues; III – Challenges and controversies. OBJECTIVES 1. To provide learning about the principles of quality and safety of organs and procedures in the transplantation setting regarding infectious diseases 2. To discuss epidemiology, clinical presentation, diagnosis, prevention and therapy of main infections after transplantation related to failures in the quality of medical assistance using the principles of vigilance and surveillance 3. To promote medical education on infectious diseases related to donor-derived infections and donor screening 4. To discuss healthcare infections and infection control issues applied to transplantation 5. To promote collaboration for educational purposes with international groups and other scientific societies 6. To create a final document with the content of the main presentations as well as the contributions of other experts in the field.

ESCMID provides a number of attendance grants for ESCMID ‘Young Scientist’ members. The Grant covers the registration fee. The registration fee includes all lectures and coffee breaks. Accommodation and travel are not included. A contingent of hotel rooms for participants is pre-reserved.
